Bowland is an academic school and examinations are very important. National tests are conducted at the end of Year 7, 8 and 9 in English, Mathematics and Science. All other subjects are examined at the end of the summer term. At the end of year 11 pupils sit GCSE examinations. In certain circumstances pupils will sit some GCSE’s early.
It is possible for some pupils to leave school with the equivalent of 12 GCSE’s. Some pupils, who may find the workload of a full complement of GCSE’s too much, can study vocational subjects and reduce the number of GCSE’s they would take. We are very proud of our examination results.
