Extended Learning is compulsory and vital in educating our pupils to the highest levels. It is set in all years, usually two or three subjects per evening and will normally involve a range of activities, for example, reading, researching and writing.
Extended Learning should take about one hour per evening in Year 7, increasing to two hours per evening in the upper school. There is clear proof that homework improves attainment.
Each pupil has a school diary in which Extended Learning is recorded and where parents / guardians can monitor it. The emphasis is always on quality rather than quantity and tasks provided will be meaningful, relevant and frequently an extension of work begun in class.
