The Lost Generation - WW1

The artist Andy Farr took the photographs of pupils from Bowland who volunteered to be part of the "Lost Generations" Project. This project involved the photographs being aged to look like they were from 1916. Each photograph has been labelled with the name of a soldier who died on the 1st day of the Battle of the Somme.

On this day 197 soldiers died who would have enlisted as school children had they been born 100 years later. Three were still only 17 on that fateful day. The exhibition at Clitheroe Castle runs daily until 29th January 2017 in the Steward's Gallery 12 noon until 4pm.

Lost Generation is a programme of collaborations and exhibitions between Andy Farr and schools designed to make the WW1 centenary relevant to today’s young people.
